In a massive blow to Israel and Netanyahu, the UN Security Council (UNSC) passes a resolution demanding an immediate ceasefire in Gaza during Ramadan. The resolution also demanded unconditional release of hostages and urges urgent need to expand the flow of aid into Gaza. 14 members voted in favour of the resolution while Israel’s ally United States abstained from voting. The UNSC however rejected a Russia-proposed amendment demanding permanent ceasefire.
